Outdoor Products Watertight Box - Gasket Replacement.
These are waterproof boxes that a lot of kayakers use for dry storage. From battery boxes to anything needing to be kept dry, the outdoor products watertight box sold at Kmart and Walmart is a cheap alternative to the expensive Pelican dry boxes. Unfortunately, the gaskets they use are fairly light duty and they tend to crack rather quickly making the boxes far from leak proof. Good by iphone. I found a great replacement gasket that is cheap and easy to install. The product is made by MD and is called Backer Rod. The size is for small gaps. I found it at Home Depot for $3.28. I found it in the weather stripping department. Just insert one side and work around the box until it completely goes around the lid. Cut slight;y oversize and push the two ends together. Make sure it sits down evenly in the holder and test it by submerging in a bucket of water. Works great. Hope that helps.
